Amir Al-Moarri, On all fronts

Lyrics :

This is the playground of the Russian leader
When you have to choose between the regime and al-Qaeda
Pick their side and you’ll be safe from their rockets
Now see how much the talk at Sochi was able to stop it
While others get rich, we’re drowning in our shit
We asked for dignity, but are buried without it
There’s no point protesting, when minds are never open
When schools are shut down and promises are broken
Why would I be sad? For my friend who died a martyr?
For my friend sighing as he holds the body of his mother?
Why should I be sad? For the schoolbook torn and bloody?
They say we’re liberated, yet we’re drowning in the bodies
Why should I be sad: For my future in this nation
Student after student being denied an education?
Or should I be sad for the teacher lost to me?
Who promised “we will never lose hope”, now where is he?
And all the liars talk as if religion’s on their side
One claims to be a caliph, another judges wrong and right
Issuing fatwas – That was an irony for sure
Take off your niqab – This land is pure

This music is a rap, rap being a good style of music to convey a strong message. We can see this Syrian rapper by the name of Amir Al-Moarri who plays “On all fronts”. He expresses his anger at the Al-Qaïda regime and the Russian regime, explaining that civilians, like him, can do nothing against these totalitarian regimes. In his music Amir Al-Moarri denounces the murderous bombardments of the Syrian regime, the closed universities but also the jihadists and rebels. His region, Idleb is controlled by jihadists, Russian rappers have already been arrested for their harsh words in their rap, so Amir risks his life to do this rap.
